3Com Secure DSL/Cable Gateway locks up

I've got a 3Com 3CR856-95 secure DSL/Cable gateway that I've had for over a
year. Other than it losing DNS information every 3 weeks or so (and thereby
making the internet unreachable), it's worked ok.

Lately, however, I started a Ventrilo server to try out voice communication
between me and a few friends. Now the gateway locks up completely after
using the voice chat. Sometimes it can happen right away with one 2 people
in the server. Other times it can last awhile. Once it locks up, though,
that's it. You can't access the web config anymore and have to pull the
plug to reset it.

I tried using the latest firmware and that doesn't help. I tried using the
oldest firmware available on their site and that doesn't help.

Ventrilo is running on a Linux server, and 2 other computers (WinXP and
Win2000) connect via the LAN. Others connect to the server over the router,
which has re-directed TCP ports open to the Linux box for Ventrilo.

Anyone else having any issues with a 3Com gateway like this?
