Hello

So I joined the ranks by upgrading my Windows ME to XP. I had a huge problem with XP even recognizing my 3com 3C905B-TX ethernet card. I pulled it off the mother board and then put it back - XP finally acknowledged its presence, but gave it the yellow exclamation mark. I simply can’t use the card to get on the internet with my Cable modem (that worked fine on ME). I have downloaded the newest driver I could find from 3Com’s site, to no avail. When I try to update the driver thru the wizard, it says there is none to find – even when I direct it to the specific folder I downloaded the driver in. And then the “Search Web” option for the driver comes up with nothing! I am totally lost at this point. All I can think of is to remove the card and one more time and then reinstall it to see if XP will make this supposed “Plug and Play” card work

If anyone can help me out or give any advice, I will certainly welcome and appreciate it

Just to post this, I had to hook up my Motorola SB5100 cable modem via USB. I guess I could use this for now, but I prefer the Ethernet card (that’s why I bought the thing!) to free up that USB port and free up that smidgen of processor resources that the USB connection demands

if you can find a diagnostic program for the card you should run it to make
sure the card is operational. I have blown 2 ethernet cards that were
working fine just by pulling them off the motherboard.
