I installed Windows 2000 (not recovery disk version) on an IBM Thinkpad
A21m. The Thinkpad has a 3COM 3C556 Hurricane mini PCI ethernet/modem
card. Windows can't find a driver for it. I looked on the 3COM web
site, but I can't find a "3COM 3C556 Hurricane" specific driver. Does
anyone know what driver I should download and use? Thanks.

Use Google. Just put in 3c556. skip the 3com part. I found a lot of
links and some you have to follow a few links on each page to get to
some good info. People say its compatible with other drivers. But
this kinda stuck out on about the 2nd or 3rd page of Google.

I can't validate the link, so do with it what you want.

First search, based on 3C556, got me a part number (3CN3AC1556B).
For some reason, I guess they thought we'd need DOS drivers.

Eventually, I found this, based on that part number.
Maybe the 3cmpci.exe file, at 3,704,832 bytes, will do it.

And you can apparently, still buy the mini PCI card :-)
So for $75, you could get a card and drivers that way.

Why don't you go to IBM/Lenovo's site to get it?
