How does one open this port, or any ports for that matter?

Hi Sko,

The XP firewall allows you to specify which ports to open
by following the instructions in this article (using port 34987):
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/j.bucha...firewalls.html

But first, simply disable to XP firewall to be sure that it's your
culprit: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=283673 ;-)
