32 KB limit on rules workaround

I am setting up folders for my important contacts and setting rules to move
e-mails to them as they come in. I am afraid of hitting the 32 KB limit on
rules. It is unclear from my reading whether the limit is per MAILBOX or
FOLDER. If Folder, you could set up secondary folders, move all e-mails
coming in to each, and then distribute rules across them and create more as
you hit the limit within each. Anyone know which the limit applies to?

Thanks!

Per mailbox.
Instead of sorting by physical folder consider using Custom Views and/or
Search Folders instead.

Robert,

Thanks for the reply.

Views would be numerous and relatively time consuming to select.

I would use search folders, but I want to be able to hyper link to the
folder from, say, that contact's contact form. That way I can simply search
my address books (from the search box), the contact pops up, and I then click
on the link and I am there. I have tried that with search folders, but I
don't think you can hyper link to a search folder. If you know of a way,
please let me know.

Do you know if the limit my mailbox or a specific folder?

Many thanks.

outlook:search folders\Search Folder Name

What do you mean by this question?

Robert,

One other thing. "outlook:search folders\Search Folder Name" does not work.
No hyper link results. I am using Outlook 2007.

Thanks again.

Sure it works. Type your word, select it, press CTRL+K and put it in the
Address field.

Wow. I see now. I thought when you typed it in that it would automatically
create the link. This is excellent.

By the way, I posted one reply that did not seem to make this thread, and it
related to the limit being per mailbox, or per folder. If the 32 KB limit is
for rules for my Outlook mailbox in total, then if I spread the rules to
other folders, I will still have the problem. If the 32 kb limit is for,
say, a folder I create for e.g. e-mails that are moved to it, then perhaps I
can get around it. I thought about this because I noticed that when I make a
rule for the inbox, I need to have it selected when I make the rule. So it
works on that "folder" only. I hope this is clear. Let me know if it is one
or the other.

Thanks again, this solves a big problem for me.

And I answered you in that other thread, I believe. It's per mailbox.
