Domain, 2003SRV + 4 XP Pro clients (3 LAN static IP, 1 WLAN) + D-Link print
server (TCP/IP) + D-Link router/gateway (DHCP for WLAN) + ZoneAlarm firewall
on all clients. Printers are Konica-Minolta PP1300W on parallell-1, Epson
Stylus Color 200 (please don't laugh, it's a damned good little printer for
my needs) on parallell-2 and a HP1220C on USB-port.
Previously all clients could print over all 3 D-Link ports. Scrapped oldest
LAN-client PC, installed a new LAN machine, well newer anyway, with new XP
Pro license (activated after 3 days).
I think I've cheched everything - print server IP & netbios name, print
portnames, LPR, byte count, printer drivers... All 4 clients seems to be
configured the same but... the new one will not print. Test page printing
dialogue ends with normal question "Did this page...?" but nothing goes to
the printer! User or admin account doesn't matter - no test page printed
whichever.
Have tried with & without firewall with same "nil result". Can ping print
server from failing client. Added to 2003SRV DNS and in 5 hosts file aswell.
Finally I installed all 3 printers on the 2003SRV, shared them and connected
to them from the new client and then... the client printed?!?
Now I've ran out of ideas but I want all 4 clients to be independent of the
2003SRV with regards to printing. Just like it was before.
Ideas? Anyone?
Thanks in advance.
