A Outlook user here Has a (3) next to Calendar in Folder View. It appears
just like when you have unread messages in your inbox. It does not change
from (3). If I view it in a event list or export all to excell, I can't see
anytning that looks strange. Office 2003, Exchange 2003 Enterprise serv pack
2.

Outlook counts either the number of unread items or the total count of items in a folder, depending on what is chosen.

All Items - shows a green number in brackets
Unread Items - shows blue number in parens

It may just be a matter of locating the items by using the Advanced Find Feature located under Tools.

Hopefully this is the step in the right direction if not let us know and we can assist further

Best Regards

Can a calendar event somehow be marked as read or unread. I viewed the events
in list view and did not see anything out of the ordinary. Is there a way to
just clear this?

Right-click and choose Mark All as Read.

Thank you for the reply. (3) is still there. My guess it that this happened
as the result of something he did on his windows mobile client.

Hmm. I've never had my Windows Mobile device add unread entries in my
Calendar, but I always sync through Outlook and not directly with the
Exchange server. Did you try Francine's suggestion of Advanced Search to
try to locate them?

The windows mobile thing is just a hunch. I have seen it do odd things in the
past. I have used advanced search and searched for anything that is unopened
along with a few other searches and found nothing. specifically what should I
search for? I have looked at all calendar items in list view and exported all
items to excell and don't see anything out of place.

When you selected the list to be exported to Excel did you use use a unfiltered view such as Categories.

If yes, lets try something else like running the command line to reset the views, it may resolve the issue. Keep in mind this will remove any customized views.

I don't see an option to use unfiltered view. Here is the export proceedure I
use:
Click on Calendar
Click File/Export
Select Export to file
MS Excel
Choose Calendar for export from
Location
?Map custom fields???

I will try that command line.

I used the outlook.exe /cleanviews - this did not work
should I try others such as cleanreminders?
