Here is something JS started to help me with & I Saved it to a Folder, but
as many things these days, forgot it. so I am reposting his help for me as I started to do what he suggested, but am already hung up Here's JS' post from 3/7/09. & in the reply post, I'll post where I am stuck at "OK, here is what you will need to download and install. First there is a valuable utility from Aaron Stebner's blog. "NET Framework setup verification tool" http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8999004.aspx (See the download instructions on were to download this file, the second link worked best for me) Download this .Zip file and extract the file named: netfx_setupverifier.exe and then run it. It's been recently updated and now will only show (in the pull down list) what versions are installed on your PC more accurately then the Add/Remove listing. So run it and use it to pick and choose the files you need to install from the list I've provided below. I am assuming that you have .Net 1.1 but not .Net 1.1 with Service Pack 1. (Stebner's utility will verify my assumption). If Stebner's utility does show .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 then you can skip that item from the list below. Note: If all of the 4 steps below, especially step 4 is a bit too much for you and you have plenty of free disk space on your hard drive, you can bit the bullet and install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. Do this by installing the file mentioned in step #1, then skip steps 2 to 4 and start at Step #5 below. Also not to worry, I will show you in detail what you need to know about the "Bootstrapper" below, when it's appropriate. Download links and install in the order listed below: 1) Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (10.2 MB) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en (Note: there is no bootstrapper download file for this service pack) Choose the option to save the file to your hard drive, When the download has complete, double click on the file named: "NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe" to start the install. 2) Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 (23.8 MB - 122.3 MB*) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en For your PC, scroll down the web page to the section titled: "Files in This Download" and download the 23.8 MB file named: NetFx20SP2_x86.exe and then install it. *** Note: Ignore the note about "KB959209", in the next step I'll show you how to only download what you need and not .Net 3.5 since Net 3.5 is currently not installed on your PC, you don't really need it. 3) Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Family Update: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en Note: Disregard the title of the article. Scroll down the web page to the section titled: "Files in This Download" 32 Bit Windows download File is named = NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe (8.6MB) Download and install this file. 4) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 Read my article: http://www.pagestart.com/netframeworkfamilyupdate.html Scroll down the page to the section titled: "How to skip NET 3.5 and install only the NET 3.0 SP2 with the 3.0 Family update" Your done except for step #6. 5) The quick way (but requires more disk space) If you have chosen to skip steps 2 thru 4 above, remember step #1 is required using either way. This is the whole package of updates which also includes ..NET Framework 3.5, read the instructions on this web page as there are two parts (A & B) you need to do. A) Install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en This "2.8 MB" download file is a "bootstrapper" and will install only the components you need. It does the download and install process all at the same time. Note: Click the "Run" option when prompted. B) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en Scroll down to the section of the page titled: "Files in This Download" Click each of the three download buttons one at a time starting with NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe (8.6 MB) When the above install finishes then download/install NDP30SP2-KB958483-x86.exe (6.9 MB) and finally the NDP35SP1-KB958484-x86.exe (1.4 MB) 6) Now use the Verification tool I mentioned above, if every versions verifies your done. -- JS http://www.pagestart.com -- Dallas..... Okay, I did all he suggested, up to the paragraph that begins with ")
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (10.2 MB" I have the Net Framework Setup Verification Utility up & for>net Framework 1.1SP1 & it says Product Verification Failed. So I went to Step 1 below, downloaded it & Installed it & got a verification that it was installed. Now upon Refreshing the Add/Remove table, I don't see that D/L anywhere there! What I see, in order are: MS .Net Framework 1.1 MS .Net Framework 1.1 Hotfix(KB928366) MS .Net Framework 2.0 Service Pack & on from there - no MS .Net Framework 1.1 SP1(KB867460) so what did I do wrong so far ? thanks very much ia -- Dallas..... just so there's no confusion, it was I who forgot, not JS.
Thanks & is it just as you have it written ? sorry but will it be a separate entry in the Add/Remove, NOT listed with the MS Framework, for 1,2 & 3 ? If so, it's not listed by itself. I'll try & insert a screen cap of the Add/ Remove - thanks very much JS okay, that was far too large to post here, so will try again. hmm, how do i include the screen cap within & not attached ? i tried both Insert & the paperclip Attach & either way, it adds it as an attachment. i captured it using MS Paint & I can't seem to decrease the size of it. i did Crop it down to a reasonable size, but apparently not enough - FfFrrRrRrUuUUSssssTtRraatTTiiiNNNNggggGGG!!! for some reason, the Post I ad worked up w/ the screen cap enclosed, did not post, even tho' it was in the Sent Folder! -- Dallas.....
