I have about 50 machines I am downloading the 3.5 framework on to. Half the
machines work fine, the others give me an error: "The Windows Installer
service is unavailable. Another application may be running setup. Finish
any instaltions in progress, or restart yur computer, and then re-run setup."


I have shut down the computer, installed windows services pack 3, followed
the instructions to reinstall the windows installer, checked active
applications running... and still I get the error.

Please help.

I have posted this a few times and its time sensitive at this point... If you
read this and even have a suggestion where I can find a solution, that would
be helpful as well.

hi , i had the same problem today, and i tried to search so much on net but nothing, anyway, although i opened the task manager many times (with show processes from all user), suddenly i found 2 processes owened by windows installer, i ended these 2 processes, then the problem were solved, i know its strange answer, but that what happend with me
