Hello,

First of all, I don't know if this is the right newsgroup to ask about
the PCI connector.
If it is not, i'm very interrested which newsgroup is!

Now my question:

I have a book describing the PCI 2.1 and PCI 2.2 standard.
In the book it is mentioned that pin 14A of the PCI bus connector can
be used as an 3.3V powersource to support "wake on LAN" type
PCI-cards.
From this powersource a small part of the PCI-card is powered during
standby-mode.

What i'm wondering is if this 3.3V auxiliary power is always available
on PCI 2.2 complient PCI-cards or if it is an optional feature.

The 3.3 volt rail is required on PCI 2.2 systems. By the way
2.3 is now out and supports only 3.3 volt cards.

Hello,

3.3Vaux is specified by the PCI Power Management Interface
Specification.
PC system manufacturers who choose to support the optional 3.3Vaux are
required to route 3.3Vaux to all PCI slots on their motherboard.
