Just experimenting with this app...
Does anyone know how you get the tree pane view to save with a drive
selected and expanded?
Tried various options, and although it saves them for the folder pane
views it doesn't seem to want to let me open it with, say, the C:
drive highlighted and all the main subfolders showing.

Otherwise..cracking looking app!

Regards,

Hello, Steve

You're right. It can't be done, but there is a trick to achieve
something close. See this thread at the xplorer2 Lite forum (I suppose
x2 is the program you meant):

http://netez.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=1962

You could use, say, this parameter: /1 c:\0\, to start x2 with c:\0
viewed in the pane, and c: expanded in the tree, so as to show and
highlight c:\0 (provided that you have selected "Keep syncrhonized with
folder in active pane" in Tools > Options > Window > Tree).

(By making and choosing a directory like c:\0, you will always have the
upmost directory highlighted in the tree.)

For parameters in x2, see the pdf manual: 9J. Running x2 from the
commandline

HTH.

Regards

You could also give TrackerV3 (http://www.trackerv3.com/) a try, which does
this by default (start with the last selected folder selected and expanded).
It can as well set the startup folder by command line switch.

Try asking in the 2X Explorer forum:

My older version - 1.3.1.12 - does exactly that, no settings necessary
AFAIK.

I tried it yesterday, following the recent thread.

First thing I did was check for the 'Explorer bug', by which Explorer
locks up when you delete a large number of files.
I'm afraid tracker didn't even get that far - I highlighted a large
number of files, pressed shift-del ( to delete without sending to the
recycle bin ), and Tracker threw a wobbly and claimed the drive was
inaccessible.
I unistalled it straightaway.

Regards,

OK, this last tip looks to be the only way to do it.
To be fair, I'm just used to having it that way...and the expanded
tree view is visible in the folder pane anyway.

Mind you, I was surprised to find that with drive C ( or indeed, any
folder ) highlighted in the tree pane, the 'create folder' command
(F8) prompts a bleep and note that says 'this command is not
applicable for the tree pane' - which just seems illogical to me.

Ah well, it doesn't fall on its arse when you delete a large group of
files...

Regards,
