I've partitioned my HD and an external HD. The drive letters I assigned
will not stick. I want the external to have R:\ as the primary and W:\ for
the logica. The letters keep changing, usually to E & F.

I've used Partition Magic to assign the letters. I've also used TweakUI.
What next?

I really NEED to lock those drive letters down.

I'm running XP/MCE2005, SP2.

Not sure about the removable drive (worked on mine and stuck), but the
following works on fixed drives on XP Pro (don't know about XP/MCE2005,
SP2):

Start/Settings/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Disk
Management then select the drive you want to change, right click and select
'Change drive and path names' and make the necessary changes.
