Hi Bill,
When dealing with a DOS prog, it could work using compatibility mode:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=292533 or by using the Multiboot
bootdisk from:
http://members.ozemail.com.au/~lpcd/downloads.html
With DOSBOX you can emulate a DOS computer on your XP desktop:
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/information.php Or try MS Virtual PC:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/v...oads/trial.asp
which allows you to install DOS or to run any operating system inside XP.
I realise these are workarounds, and not exactly what you're requesting,
however if you search on "pif" in Help and Support you'll find more ideas.

| I have need to occasionally run two old DOS based programs that are used on
| different sites. I had these installed on my home machine starting with
| W3.11 and moving right on up. However after upgrading to WXPro I can no
| longer run these two programs.
| The ProWrite program only has a PW.com which XP gives me the error
| screen that it will look for a program to run this extension. The ProFile
| program will run only if I go into the directory and double click on the
| PF.exe. I cannot create a shortcut to it as when I do and click on it in
| will not run. Neither program has an install or setup command, and both are
| installed in folders on my hard drive.
