I now have a second "Personal Folders" in Outlook 2007. All new emails and
sent items are going to this second folder. I did not create any new data
file, but this has appeared. I have moved everything in the new PF to the
original Personal Folders and "Closed" this new one, as there is no "Delete".

How can this new one have been created when I didn't do it myself?

I don't have a crystal ball or a time machine to see what you've done in the
past. Creating a secondary pst-file and setting it as the new default
delivery location will require manual actions; Outlook does not do that
automatically.

You tell us. You are mistaken. You did do it. Outlook did not do this on its
own. Tell us the rest of your story.

I have the same problem with a duplicate Personal Folder. The only
difference I can see is the icon displayed in front on the "Personal
Folders." One icon looks like a small house, the other looks like a index
card file. All new mail appears in both folders and when I delete email in
one folder it also deletes the same mail in the "mirrored" folder. Renaming
one of the folders did not solve the problem.

If I did something to create this second folder, like Doup I do not know how
I did it. But I would like to find a resolution.

Again, you are asking us to be clairvoyant. You were there. We weren't. Why
do you expect us to know what you did? There are many possible causes for
ghost PST files, most of which involve the end user migrating their Outlook
data incorrectly. Tell us what you did. If you have total amnesia, then just
create a new Outlook profile and make sure you migrate your data to it
correctly. Methods have been posted here countless times.

I would suggest you try the following:

Right click on the second personal folder file and select the option
to close it.
