I have recently installed a new additional Seagate 120 mb
drive on my Dimension 8300, but although I can see it in
the device manager, the drive will not show up on windows
explorer.

Does any kind soul know how I can solve this problem?

thanks in advance!

Use Disk Management to add/format drives under XP. Click on Start > Help and Support and then type "Disk Management" in the search function for a detailed explanation on how to manage hard drives under XP.

Is it a sata hdd?

Try going to Control panel/Admin tools
computer management. Click on Disk Management
highlight that 120gb right mouse button and format.

That may do the trick.
