I have 2 win2k servers sp4. One can see the entire network fine the other
one can not it gives the error "List of servers for this workgroup is not
currently available" Now I can ping and bring up the other computers through
the search and the mapped drives I have to the other server work fine. I did
some research and saw the problem could be the File replication service. I
have tried using the frs Diag tool to force replication but it failed. I get
the error in event viewer Source NTFrs event id 13508 with this message "The
File Replication Service is having trouble enabling replication from MSTSRV02
to MSTSRV01 for c:\winnt\sysvol\domain using the DNS name
MSTSRV02.mountainstar. FRS will keep retrying.
Following are some of the reasons you would see this warning.
[1] FRS can not correctly resolve the DNS name MSTSRV02.mountainstar from
this computer.
[2] FRS is not running on MSTSRV02.mountainstar.
[3] The topology information in the Active Directory for this replica has
not yet replicated to all the Domain Controllers.
This event log message will appear once per connection, After the problem
is fixed you will see another event log message indicating that the
connection has been established."
The other server has no errors. This is also causing my backup not to work
that is on this server. Any help figuring this out would be greatly
appreciated
