2K Server Lisensing Questions?

Hi,

I have a client who wants me to work on their network.
When I look at Lisensing from Admin tools on the DC it
seems their Windows 2000 Server and exchange server are
unlisensed. I asked one employee and she thinks they
purcased 2K server w/ 40 CALS and exchange w/ 40 CALS at
some point. I am not sure if this is just a
configuration issue or if it is really unlisensed usage.

I have not really dealt with this before. Can someone
tell me if they are lisensed why the lisensing funtion
says they are not, or how to tell, or how to configure
this properly?

This is what I see from the Product view tab in Lisensing:

Product seat purch seat allocate svr purch Svr reached

Exch 0 200 0 varies 5-25

Win Svr 0 120 0 varies 5-25

This is what I see in the clients (per seat tab):

user name Lisense use unlisense use product

user 1 0 2 Exch, Win Svr
user 2 0 1 Exch
user 3 0 2 Exch
user 4 0 2 Exch, Win Svr
etc, etc etc etc

I also see repeated lisensing errors in the logs. This is
what alerted me to begin with.

This is a small 2k domain with about 15 local users and
then about 40 small remote locations that are running
workgroups but still access this main DC for mail only.

Thanks

Rory

You have to enter the pershase information manualy into the licence manager.
licence manger is under Administrative tools.

Hope this answer your question.
