2GB SD Memory just hangs!

I bought a SanDisk 2GB SD micro memory card with the intent of loading
it up on my pc (XP Pro) with applications to use in my phone.

When I stick the card in the SD reader on my PC and try and access it
it just hangs with the hourglass.

I have no problems with a 1GB SD card.
My phone recognises the capacity of the empty micro card
My camera recognises the card (in its carrier)
The card (in its carrier) is recognised in a friends Vista based pc

I can only assume that XP Pro or the SD reader has limitations. I am
not aware of any XP limitations so this suggests the reader but I am
not aware that this has any limitations.

Any advice would be welcome.

Look to the Memory Card reader as being te problem. Contact the manufacturer.
I have seem the same problem with older Compact Flash (CF) Memory Card readers and newer CF
cards.

Suggest that you see what the manufacturer has in the way of new driver
programs. If none available I should reinstall the reader and you will probably
find it working. I run a Swann that was quite cheap and so far it has acccepted
all the types of cards that have been presented.

Many thanks!

As I suspected it will probably be a limitation with the reader which
I installed on my PC a long time ago.

I will probably buy a USB/MicroSD reader - a lot less effort than
trying to find the root cause!!

Depending on the "age" of the SD card reader, there may be a limit on
the reader's hardware. You may have to consider getting a different
reader, if the original SD reader's manufacturer can not provide a
"fix."
