I previously had two drives: one 20.5GB and one 60GB. Windows is
installed on the 20.5GB and the 60GB was a Slave. The 60 was not
cutting it, so I decided to buy a 250GB and thought that I would be
free of any troubles in the future. Now I have installed the 250GB and
the computer sees it and says it is working properly but it is not
showing in the My Computer window. And I have all updates that I know
of. Can it be fixed without partitioning the drive?

If you checked out win help it would have directed you to Disk Management.
Untill the new hd is partitioned/formated you cannot do anything with it
