When authorizing credit card fromPoint of Sale, goes through our internet.
Sometimes it authorizes sometimes it times out. Spoke with mercury payment
systems and they say they never receive a message. So somewhere in between
its dropping the connection. Its happening with Windows 2003 and windows
2000. We have checked settings on router. Everthing seems ok. We are running
out of options here.

Problem connecting to x1.mercurypay.com 9000

Keep in mind, this form assists with DNS problems including resolution
problems. However I was able to resolve both www.mercurypay.com and
x1.mercurypay.com.

Therefore, to try to assist and point you in the right direction, I don't
seem to have a problem resolving or connecting to www.mercurypay.com. The
address you provided requires a logon account, which I do not have. I pinged
both www.mercurypay.com and x1.mercurypay.com. I found out they resolve to
different IP addresses, so I assume they are different servers, however,
x1.mercurypay.com does not reply to pings. This does not necessarily mean
the server is not reachable, but can just mean they have ICMP disabled on it
to not reply to pings.

If you don't have any problems connecting to other websites, I would believe
the problem may lie with the provider. I can't even suggest a tracert or
pathping because ICMP doesn't respond. However, I think the best thing for
you to do is call their customer service center for starters.

Mercurypay.com is still the most likely cause. Just because they don't
"receive a message" that does not mean anything. If their server is
responding too slowly and timing out then that means there just might not be
"a message" to receive in the first place,...and that depends on exactly
where they are looking for "the message" in the first place.

It is either:
1. Mercurypay.com's equipment
2. Their ISP's service
3. Your ISP's Service
4. One of the Long Distance Carriers between your ISP and their ISP.

There is nothing about Windows2000 or 2003 that is going to create that
behavor.
