XPPro-SP2 box running Ms Access 2007 in design mode.

On one 2003 database forms and controls will not display the context menu
activated by right click but the database window and other areas will.

On another 2003 database, there is no problem with the right click context
menus but the properties window will not display on any object.

Similar instances of both types of problems happen to a new 2007 database
created on the same machine.

Both databases work find on a different machine with windows 2000 running Ms
Access 2003.

So far I have tried to clear many of the settings key in the registry but
have not been able to influence this behavior.

Thank for any help in advance.

If the right-click menu fails in a *subform* in Access 2007, Microsoft has
released a hotfix for this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935875/en-us

More info on bugs and fixes for A2007:

Thanks for that Allen,

Unfortunately, the issue of the context menu is not a custom menu that does
not work when you run the program. The isssue is that of the right click does
not popup the normal context menu that you get when you try to look at the
properties of a form or a control for instance.

I just noticed that on the same database a sub form attached to a table does
not show any records but the parent form is OK. This also works on another
computer with access 2003.

On the other database the right click works to bring up the menu but the
properties selection does not bring up the properties window.

This all worked until a few days ago.

The last listed update was about a month ago.

Sorry, Rob: I don't know what to make of those symptoms.

Shortcut menu works sometimes, not other times.
Properties box shows sometimes, not other times.
I'm not seeing any consistent pattern from the information you supplied.

The symptoms seem to be specific or different in individual databases

In one of them, 2003, the context menu from right click does not work so its
difficult to say if the properties window will appear or not because it
cannot be selected.

In the other 2003 the right click will bring up the context menu but the
properties window will not appear.

In a third, 2007, the right click will bring up the context menu but the
properties window will not appear.

The problem properties window is the one for objects or controls on objects
such as forms or tables or reports in design view.

The properties window will appear on an object if it is not open in design
view like when you right click on a form listing in the Objects listings on
the left.

I suppose we can consider this two differnet problems but I suspect they are
related in some way.

1- Right click will not bring up the context menu in one 2003 database.

2 - Right click will allow the selected of properties but that window will
not appear in a different 2003 and a new 2007 databse.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Office Ultimate 2007 but that did not change
anything. I did notice that the Access Options configuration which was
previously changed from the default was not cleared back to the original
state.

I presume that means that not all registry entries related to Office 2007
were removed when it was uninstalled.

It feels like the inability to display the properties window is influenced
by a system wide setting that was not changed when Office was uninstalled and
the right click context menu is influenced by a database specific setting.

I imported all the objects from the 2003 database that wont right click to a
2007 blank database. I found that the right click still doesn't work. I also
found that the resulting 2007 database wont run because of missing
references. When I tried to add the references, they were not listed and when
i tried to browse to the OCX files, 2007 would not link to them.

I tried to use the convert facility to convert the 2003 database to 2007.
the result was that some of the previously missing references showed up but
the database still wont work without managing some of those references.
However, right click still wont work on this database.

As far as the properties window issue is concerned. There must some
configuration option that got turned on that prevents them from being
displayed.
