2007 Merge Fields (database) lock fields after selection VBA

Hi, is someone able to show me a technique to lock/unlock mergefields on Active Document? I am using Word Automation sample and want to lock the fields with VBA and add it to the Ribbon (the ribbon adding I have no problem with) the locking the merge fields (from database info) is not obvious except with some vba?
