2007 inbox opens with random message highlighted

When I open my inbox in Outlook 2007, the highlighted message can be anywhere
on the list. The highlight usually falls on the older messages. I sort by
date, so this makes me have to page down to my recent messages. Outlook 2003
behaved much better in this way.
