[2007] A few issues

I upgraded from Office 2003 and I'm experiencing a few things that are
annoying me. I'm wondering if they're simply new behavior in Outlook 2007 or
if they're artifacts of upgrading.

1) If I switch from one mail folder to either another mail folder or
something else (like Calendar) and I "do something" and then hit the Back
button, Outlook 2007 forgets which message I had selected in that mailbox
and instead sets the selection to the first item in the list. This is
especially annoying due to the fact that I sort my messages by ascending
date (the newest is at the bottom) and I always end up at the old end of my
mail. I mention "do something" because if I simply switch to another view
and then immediately click Back the original selection is preserved, but if
for example I switch to Calendar and then change the day I'm viewing and
THEN hit Back, the selection is reset. Known bug? New "by default" behavior?

2) I'm getting duplicate appointment notifications. I have two recurring
appointments (one telling me it's lunch time and the other telling me to go
home!) and since I upgraded I get two occurrences of them in the Reminders
window. I have completely deleted and recreated both and it didn't help. The
back-end is Exchange 2000, if that matters. Any suggestions?

3) Some yahoo on the Outlook team just screwed over us left-handed mousers a
little bit more. You see, when your left hand is on the mouse and you use
the right hand for keyboard shortcuts, it's nice to use the old CUA
keystrokes for cut, copy, and paste (Ctrl+Del, Ctrl+Ins, Shift+Ins) instead
of the incredibly-right-hand-uncomfortable Ctrl+X/C/V. While they've been
deprecated for a while, Microsoft has been extremely good about quietly
retaining their functionality. Unfortunately, you can no longer select text
in the reading pane and copy it with Ctrl+Ins.

1) Annoying behavior that some hit, but I don't know any way to get out
of it.

#1 I think it's a bug but it affects just some people. did you upgrade and
use an old profile or make a new one? try a new profile - it might also take
care of #2.

on #2, try opening outlook with the /cleanreminders switch.

#3, how about right click on the mouse? (or left if you've switched the
buttons) (ps, you probably won't like Toshiba laptops - only shift+ins is
usable, unless you have really long fingers or want to use 2 hands)

Old profile.

Will try, thanks.

How about Microsoft makes the effort to let me continue working the way I
like to work? Sometimes I use the mouse, sometimes I use the keyboard. Now
if I want to use the keyboard I have to either contort my right hand or
remove my left hand from the mouse. Neither is ideal. And all because they
came up with a cool new view control and forgot to throw in some legacy
support. Yee haw.

to be fair to MS, those shortcuts are depreciated and as such, you can
expect them to disappear at any time.

I am pretty sure that they didn't just forget about it. They probably
decided it was time to get rid of this legacy feature because it was
used very rarely.
