I was hoping someone else has run into this. I have 1 machine that is having
trouble when Oultook is opened, It changes the display settings from 32 bit
high color to 8 bit low color, you can go change the setting back to 32 bit
high color but if you open an attachment in Outlook when the attachment opens
it causes the same effect.
So far I have uninstalled and reinstalled office, uninstalled any non
windows programs, all patches and security updates have been applied. I tried
a system retore to an earlier time.
This is the only machine having problems and if I log on using a different
profile the problem does not occur.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Dale

Maybe you checked something in the compatibility mode? Right click
Outlook shortcut -> properties -> tab compatibility...

I don't get any options like that. When I click for properties I get email
accounts Data Files and Show Profiles for options, none of those have any
options for view. Any other ideas?

Take/Create another shortcut to Outlook not on the desktop; try again.

'not on the desktop' should not be here. Excuse me. Or try Office
diagnostics.

Tried that, still got the same result when I created the short cut on
another partition. Although it did work once without changing the screen
resolution. I still get no option for a compatibility mode like you had
mentioned. Where can I find that.

Strange. Did you try the outlook.exe in the Office folder? No
compatibility? (Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office12\OUTLOOK.exe -> right click -> properties...)

OK, that way works to get to compatibility. However I corrected the problem
by removing the profile from windows, then logged back in with the user
account and re created the profile. It works now.
Thanks for the direction
