3 out of 5 times I boot up knowing that I have got Outlook to open with the
boot up I come back expecting my mail to have downloaded, only to find an
error message telling me that I did not shut down Oulook properly last time
and would I like to open it in safe mode. No I don't. I just want it to open
every time as 2003 used to do so that when i give my long boot up time to do
its stuff I can come back to my mail. To have to cancel this annoying
question every time is .......well annoying. Ok perhaps it is me not knowing
how to shut down Outlook properly as i just go to the start buuton and choose
Turn Off my computer. The programs then close down and it turns itself off
and rightly or wrongly this is how I have always done it since I have owned a
computer. Have I now because of 2007 got to close each and every program in
some special way? If not and it is just some over protection then can I
override this message or disable it from coming up? Thanks

Shutting down the PC is not, and never has been, the correct way to end
programs. You need to close any running programs then closed down the PC,
otherwise, as you have expeienced, you end up with data corruption

There is something accessing outlook message store - you would do well to
install the new cumulative update. Links are here:
