Hi,

I have a multi user dos app hosted on 2003 server (standard with no patches)
and xp clients connecting to it.

When a single XP client connects and runs a dos program the 2003 server
reports (via Manage, Shared Folders, Open Files) the same file open twice by
the XP client. The application on the client then reports that its waiting
for the file. This article :

http://support.microsoft.com/default...roduct=win2000

explains the setting in place by default to deal with opportunistic locking.
I have not seen this duplicate open file behaviour at any other site on any
othe platform.

When testing im 100% sure the application should only open the file once
with a secure read exclusive lock.

Has anyone else seen this with any appliation on 2003 and XP client /server
platform ?

Thanks for any information.
Scott
