Looking at testing a clustered file server using 2003 R2. Planning on having
2 filesystems in active active cluster. 1 filesystem will have directory
quotas served up by one server. The other filesystem will have directory
quotas served up by the other server. If one physical server fails and the
filesystem is failed over, will the directory quotas stay intact? Does it
require setting up any special resources?

File Server Resource Manager in R2 fully supports clustering the way you
intend to use it. Once you have your active-active cluster configured, you
can go and configure firectory quotas for a given volume by using the FSRM
management console to manage the node which currewntly owns the volume. The
configuraiton is seamless and does not require you to create cluster
resources or do anything from the Cluster Administrator management UI. In
the case of failover, the quota configuration will seamlessly fail to the
new node without any need for administrator intervention.

Thank you for the response on this. A follow up question would be regarding
shadow copies. In the exampel I have 2 filesystems on each active node. I
was thinking of adding 2 more filesystems to shadow copy the other 2
filesystems. example: Node1 hosts filesystem FS1 (with dirquotas and 100GB)
dedicate another filesystem called N1SCOPY that would be 30GB for shadow
copies of FS1. In a clustered environment, will this work?

Thanks
