Hi,

I am having trouble either understanding this option or getting it to work.
If I check this option in Tools - Options - Mail Format (tab).
Create a new email message either as a standard Rich Text format or using
Word as my email editor (and with a rich text format).
Send the email to myself.
When I receive the email I would expect to read it using Word. But when I
open the message it is being opened with the standard outlook mail format and
being read as HTML. Is this correct?

Yes, but you shouldn't use Rich Text unless all your recipients are
using Outlook. Use HTML or plain text.

The option that I am questionning in this post:

'Use Microsoft Word to read Rich Text e-mail messages'

Found in:
Tools - Options - Mail Format (tab).

Now I see what you mean. I don't know, as I don't use Rich Text and most
of the people I email don't have Outlook.

Click Tools>Options>Mail Format>Internet Format. In the "Outlook Rich Text
options" section, what does the "When sending Outlook RIch Text messages to
Internet recipients, use this format" drop-down show?

I am still receiving my own emails (sent from myself through outlook and
received through outlook) as HTML even though I have the option 'Use
Microsoft Word to read Rich Text e-mail messages' ticked and I have selected
various options in the dropdown list that was mentioned.

Brian,

In this drop down list the selected item is 'Convert to HTML Format'.

I will test my scenario again with the other options.

Thanks.

You did say it was being converted to HTML. This is why, I believe.
