When I open Outlook 2003, I get the following error message:
"Inbox Assistant could not be displayed. The set of personal folders could
not be opened." Haven't been able to find anything about this. Any ideas on
how to correct whatever is wrong?

Most likely you have misconfigured your Outlook. Without configuration
details it would be anyone's guess on how to correct it.

Puzzling thing is that I didn't have this error before. Wonder why I can't
find anything referencing the error message? Configuration hasn't changed.

And our crystal ball is still foggy.

Hiya - Our company is fairly large … upwards of 4000 seats … and something similar has just cropped up for a few (not all) users in our Frankfurt office. When they have out of office on, close outlook, reopen outlook, they don't receive the prompt to disable out of office. instead (after a period of time sometimes or after they try to disable out of office manually) they receive the following errors (these were translated for me from German):

The inbox assistant can't be displayed. The folder is not available for a delayed action.

When they click OK

This command is not available. Double-check with the program documentation how to use this add-in.

after clicking OK on the second msg, Outlook is dead. they have to kill the app and restart it.

Using Outlook 2003 with Office 2002 on XP. I was under the impression that the inbox assistant was used only for outlook express now, but I could be wrong.

Have you found a solution to your problem yet?
