Okay guys help me please, I went to sync my contact from my outlook to my new
Ipod Touch which it did just fine but when I went to open my Outlook it will
open for 2-3 seconds and then close itself. I tried rebooting computer,
restoring to an earlier date everything. There is no error message just
closes on it's own before I can click anything. I did get one message reading
" a fatal error has occurred in Outlook. The data in your envelope has been
lost, but your documents is still available". Does anyone know what I should
do, if so please keep simple as I am just an average computer guy with
limited skills.

Thanks for the help

Diane, thanks but where do I start the "help, detect & repair process from"?
I can not open Outlook so I am guessing some where else but not sure where
the starting point should be, any help would be great.

Thanks again

In that case, go to control panel, mail and make a new profile. It can be a
no-mail profile (cancel when it asks for an email address) then do detect
and repair. Try the original profile - if it still fails but the new profile
works then the profile was corrupted by the sync tool.

Okay Outllook will not open for more the 1 second so doing anything in
Outlook is not an option. I just tried deleting my Office XP and then
reinstalling it and when it reinstalls I still have all the emails and then
it closes again in 1 second. I am running out of ideas so if anyone has
anything else to add please feel free to try and help my situation, I am
willing to try anything, but please keep it simple as I am not very computer
friendly.

Thanks again everyone,

Did you try making a new profile in outlook?
The other office apps have a Help, Detect and Repair menu too.

Diane,
Still working on trying to do this, I am not on top of getting around on a
computer very well, 45 years old and got a late start. But it does seem as
though when I tried to copy my contacts from my address book to my Ipod it
transfered everything out of my address book so there is nothing there if
that means anything to anyone. Still trying to figure it out and I am
guessing it will be a while. Thanks for the continue help and please keep the
ideas coming.

Thanks,
