Need more information. Are you on a corporate network? Do you leave Outlook
runnning 24/7? Is it *always* at 4 AM? If you are on a corporate network, is
it possible the administrators are logging everyone off the network at (or
shortly before) 4 AM for some maintenance work or something similar? Is it
possible your network account is configured to allow you to log in at only
certain times of the day?

I am not on a corporate network, only a desktop, and yes outlook is running
24/7.

Check your event logs to see what's going on at or shortly before 4 AM. Are
there any scheduled events for around that time? Do you backup your pst file
every night? If so, could that process be logging you out of Outlook?

where is the 'event log' and do not think anything is scheduled? the "enter
network password" started appearing at 4am every morning about 3 wks ago, I
can only think of clicking on "auto Updates" as something triggering this
window to pop up. I travel and use blackberry but can't get emails when this
occurs every 4am. could some kind of update have caused this? "remember
password" is checked. when I click Okay my emails start again when I return
to my computer. thanks.

Click on Start - Administrative Tools - Event Viewer. There you will see
logs for Application, Security, and System. They can be sorted by date/time
so look for something that happens each day before 4 AM. Also, check Task
Scheduler (also found in Administrative Tools) to see if you have anything
scheduled for around that time every day.

I looked thru the Event Log and did not see anything that may cause this
window to pop up. And again this morning I opened my computer to find at
approx 3am my emails stopped and the "enter network password' window was
showing. this started about 3 wks ago, could an auto update I clicked on
created this? thanks again for your help.

Would "Restore System" back about one month correct this?

Can't say for certain but it's worth a try.

Could you be losing your internet connection every night? You could run a
continual ping command in a DOS window and log the results to a file. Then
you could see if the problem is with your interent connection or somewhere
else. Or you could contact your ISP to see if there is some kind of service
interruption during evening hours.
