2000 professional

After cleaning up a few viruses that were found on my
computer I am running into trouble where I can't get pass
the password screen when starting it up. It continuously
reboots itself. We have tried to download service packs
and drivers which will install but then when I restart
the computer the only way to bring it up is to use the
last good configuration. Can anyone help?
