I have created my first site, when a visitor goes to the site they get the
user/name popup box, I contacted the web host and after editing and resetting
the htacess files it's still the same, they suggested an upgrade to 2002 or
2003. Is there a way on my end to fix this problem
Thanks in advance

You or your host need to allow anonymous browsing for your web site.

No - upgrading will not cure the problem.
The problem is EITHER a permissions problem on the server, which has
to be fixed by your host,
OR your pages may be referencing a file that has been placed in the
_private folder, or some other folder that is protected.
