2000 to 2003 upgrade hangs

I'm upgrading several machines from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2003, this
happens on all of them- the install goes fine, and download of all fixes
from office update site goes fine, but when you run outlook 2003 for the
first time it hangs on the "migrating accounts" screen.
When you go into Mail in control panel, trying to see the accounts also
hangs. The only way to get it to work is to delete the old profile and make
a new one.
Any ideas on what I can do to get this to work better?
