I have XP pro and a WD 200G drive. Bios shows the drive,
Windows shows the drive under device manager but I cannot
seem to use it or format it. It is not available to
select for format or partition.

Any suggestions?

boot from floppy drive into dos and format from there, use
fdisk to see if partitions are set, if not , partition it.
you will need the format.com file on the floppy though.

Go under Administrative Tools > Computer Managemetn >
Disk Management. The drive should be visible, but have
no letter assignment. Enable the drive and it you can
partition and format at will.
