Hi there,
I have two XP Pro machines one desktop one Toshiba Portege 3490CT which uses
a Port Replicator to connect to the Belkin Dual Wired/Wireless Router, my
Cable Broadband modem is connected to the router and all computers access
the Internet via the router..
Try as I might following all the instructions I can see within the newsgroup
I cannot share files between either computer. I can share files between my
Desktop and another Desktop in another room over both wired LAN or Wireless
LAN but this Portege seems to be causing problems I can see the Portege in
MSHome in Windows Explorer but click on it and all I get is "Mshome is not
accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource.
Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access
permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently
available." I have Administrator rights on both machines and have logged
on as Administrator on both machine still no file sharing, I have enabled
File Sharing on both computers.
I've tried using either MSHome or Workgroup setups, MSHome via a Residential
Gateway or the other options all with no joy. Obviously I have disabled the
Firewall's on both computers and as I say I can see both computer names
which are different in both computers (MSHome) but this error message still
keeps appearing.
Any thoughts could it have something to do with the Toshiba Port Replicator
although this seems unlikely as both computers can connect to the net via
the Belkin Router so there is a connection to both computers.
Many thanks in advance for any pointers.
Tim.
