Can a have 2 different sets of page numbers on the same doc?

ie
section A: page X of Y
Whole Doc : page V of W

Or is it one or the other?

It is possible to have multiple page numbering. You have not given enough
information to be able to tell you how to set up exactly what you want.

Hope this helps.

OK well Ihave already set up one set of page numbers that is formatted like
below (taken directly from the document):

Section 1 Page 1 of 7

The whole document is 133 pages and the document is in sections.
So I tried to format the second set of page numbers like this:

The are both in the footer one above the other, section is above the whole
doc numbers, the problem I am having is that if I try to continue the count
across each section then the top set of page numbers continue with the
numbering also.

EG I am on page 70 of the document and here are the two different thing I
can get my footer to read.

Section 6 page 70 of 16

-or-

Section 6 page 13 of 16

I hope this is clear and is enough information to help me.

Cheers

OK I've worked it out myself... if not very cruedly
I have inserted the field { = {PAGE} + X} ,where X is the number of pages
before the start of the next section, on the second lot of pg numbers and it
worked out ok

The other thing that you can do is insert a bookmark at the end of each
section and use a formula to subtract the (sum of the) PageRef fields from
the { PAGE } field to get the number of the page in the section.

Note that if your document has a table of contents or a table of figures, or
if it contains cross-references to page numbers, all of these will reflect
the numbers displayed by the PAGE fields (including the formatting, unless
format switches are being used).
