Is there a way to customize the slide sorter to set the number of thumbnails
to be viewed at one time?

Is there a way to mark/tag slides for future deletion; and for Instructor
notes?
I know I can hide slides, but I want to mark them for different purposes.

to change the number of thumbnails shown on the slide sorter

view menu > zoom

You can add a sneaky textbox 'off' the slide area, so the note can be seen
while editing, but it will not print or be seen during a slideshow.
