Hi
1. Double click on the downloaded file - and have 6 floppies ready.
2. You can't do a 'clean' install over any other OS. A 'clean' install
deletes all and sundry:

| Problem 1:
|
| I tried going to the main windows xp site
(
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...n&FamilyID=558
20EDB-5039-4955-BCB7-4FED408EA73F) to download boot disks.
|
| I understand they are supposed to be 6 diskettes. However, if you go to
the main page, the file is approximately 4287 KB, which is larger than a
single disk can support. The thing is, it doesn't download as 6 separate
files, but as one large file which cannot be created into a "boot disk".
|
| Problem 2:
|
| Another issue I'm encountering with my other computer is that I tried to
do a clean install of XP over WinME. However, when I try to load it up now,
it goes to the blue screen "STOP: c0000135 Unable to Locate Component. This
application has failed to start because winsrv was not found. Re-installing
the application may fix this problem."
|
| There is no way for me to reinstall the application because 1. I cannot
retrieve a decent boot disk, and 2. It will not even boot from the CD-Rom of
a good version of Windows XP.
|
| Sometimes the prompt comes on and says "The following file is missing or
corrupted: C:\Windows\System\VMM32.VXD. Type the name of the windows
loader...
| But when I followed the directions as instructed on the Windows Support
Page, it still did not work AT ALL.
|
| Can anyone help? I'm stuck with 2 crippled computers!!!
