Hello,

Here is my situation. Right now, I have 2 separate
networks setup. Everything works fine on both networks. My
goal is to combine the 2 networks into 1.
The first network consists of 4 hardwired connections to a
hub. One of the connections is a server and the other 3
are workstations. The server is configured with an IP and
a Subnet. It does not use DCHP. Each workstation is
configured with an IP (respectively) and the same subnet.
The second network consists of 4 wireless systems that are
connected via the Wireless router. The wireless router is
using DCHP and each of the workstations are setup
to "Obtain IP address automatically".
I want to do away with the hub (10mb garbage) and connect
the 4 hardwired systems to the 4 ports of the wireless
router. So this means that I will have a total of 8
machines on the wireless router. 4 hardwired and 4
wireless. Here is my question. Do I have to make any
changes to the 4 systems that are using IP's? I was told
that the wireless router doesn't care that they have IP's
and that they will work just fine. Also, everyone on the
wireless network has access to the Internet, because the
wireless router is hooked up to a cable modem as well.
Once I have all machines working on this combined network,
how do I deny a machine Internet access?

Sorry but this is fairly easy. Connect all the computers you have on the
HUb to the router and set them all to use DHCP. If you have a server
that cannot have a dynamic IP then just input it Statically. That's it.
As far as not allowing anyone to the internet there are many ways to do
that. If you are the admin of these computers you can go to each one and
remove there user account from the internet enplorer.exe file and when
they execute the Internet Icon it will not run. If you wanna get that
extream assuming they are 2000 and xp machines where the C drive is
formated with NTFS.
