could some one please tell me how to set up a 2 computer game lan? We are
presently connected to a router which is connected to a cable modem but
would like to connect directly to each other as we are only a few feet

Hello,

If it is a multi-port router (usually 4 ports), then you are already
connected. The multiple ports are basically a built in switch. Use it
as such.
