The decrease in font size is just the way it works. I've never noticed
problems with the bullet spacing, though. At any rate, set up another slide
master to use for the 2-column text layouts. The font on the (one)
placeholder should be 2 pts larger than the font you ultimately want in the
2-column layout, and the two boxes in the 2-coumn layout will fit in the
area the one placeholder takes on the slide master. So size the placeholder
accordingly.
