I'm trying to connect my BCM to another computer's database over a LAN. It's
asking for a password, but none of our computers are password protected. Is
it necessary to have a password to use the shared contacts function?

ok, I added a password on my computer, changed the password on the
permissions on the server, and I still get an error saying "cannot change
password on computer "x". Click help for details." Help tells me to make
sure that I typed the password correctly. Great. real helpful. Could there
be a firewall setting that needs to be changed?

BCM uses the login/password as Windows.
Can you use shares on the server that only your login should have
permission to access?
Can you login to the server with Remore Desktop?
Also, these things tend not to work with Home editions of Windows,
only with the pro versions.

OK, all of a sudden it wants to work. I tried accessing another shared file,
and for the first time it asked me for a password. Now BCM is working. I
don't know what changed, but I'm just glad i can use the dang program.
Thanks for your input.
