I'm looking for either 15" or a 17" notebook that will run Vista Ultimate with all the bells and whistles Resolution must be at least 1440x900 for a 15" or 1680x1050 for a 17" model. It must have an Intel processor and nVidia graphics, because I might use it for Linux in the near future (and Linux works best on Intel and nVidia hardware). It's for normal home use (web, Office, Photoshop/Premier elements) and it needs to be powerful enough to play one of the latest games (I know it's not out yet, but Starcraft 2 springs to mind). I've been hearing all sorts of stories about the different brands (positive feedback for IBM Thinkpad, Asus, so-so feedback for Dell, Sony, negative feedback for HP and Packard Bell). So, which one to choose ? Is the T61 really as good as its price tag would have you believe or should I settle for Dell or another brand ?

Hi and welcome to the Forum

You didn't say how much you had to spend???

But if you want a seperate graphics card that will plat a new game well then you are gonna be looking upwards of £600.

Try some of these;

Or if you're gonna go full out then I have to recommend this..... Now had mine for a short while and oh my.... Pure Power on the go. Who says a laptop can't play Crysis ?

X90r Pro (NNB-660)

And no.... I didn't spend that much on it.... I use it "predominantly" for work so I got the company to order it to save me the tax. Cost me in total about £1500..... company paid the rst
