My present 17" CRT's resolution is 1024x768.
Will a 19" LCD's resolution of 1280x1024 result in appr. the same display
regarding font-sizes etc.?
Thanks for your thoughts.

No. Fonts will be smaller. You can adjust them by right clicking the
desktop and choosing Properties>Settings Tab>Advanced Tab and choosing
something other than the default DPI setting. Also Properties>Appearance
Tab and changing the font size, as well as other customizations available
there.

LCD's want to run at their "native resolution" which, in the case of the 19"
LCD, will be 1280 x 1024. Unless it is a high-resolution display, which may
want to run at something like 1600 x 1200. These displays cost a couple
thousand dollars, so you most likely are not going to run into them unless
you are a professional graphics designer.

They will be similar.

The deciding factor is the actual size of the display. A 17" CRT may have only
15 or 16" actual display measurement. A 19" CRT will have 19" available.

The ratios are close, so there will be little discernable difference at native
resolution.

Thank you very much, John, I shall order the 1905FP from Dell as a
replacement of the 17"CRT.
