Just a guess, but what if you ran ScanDisk? If the
results were positive, I think you'd be OK.

Worth a try. I just hope the 'Scan for and attempt recovery of bad
sectors' setting doesn't write anything, otherwise if there's a wraparound
problem I'll really be buggered!
