I am building a new system and want to use a 169 gig hard
drive. Will windows xp pro support it. Thanks for any
info.

XP with SP1 will and you may need to update the BIOS if it
is an "old" mobo.

The BIOS will need to be able to do 48bit LBA hard drive configurations.
