I'm trying run a 16-bit application in windows xp home
edition. Is there any way?

Try the following, Go to Start\All Programs\Accessories and select Program
Compatibility Wizard. You should realize, there is no DOS in XP and the
Command Prompt is only an emulator. While many DOS programs do run in an XP
many don't and won't.
