15 PCs which Windows Updates to Install

A company has asked me to update their Windows XP sp2 PCs in terms of
security patches, recommended updates, etc. According to the owner,
their
prior update was about 10 months ago.
Based upon Windows Update, I have started to compile a list and some
workstations are missing as many as 65 updates. There is a lot of
overlap
but so far I think my list has about 80 entries.

My question is whether there is a WEB site where I can check which
updates are actually necessary, safe, interact well with each other,
the
sequence of installation, etc?

I realize that I can search for a specific update's KB number and read
comments. However, there are 80 so far. In addition, my search probably
will not indicate the sequence of the updates and whether certain
updates
interact well with others.

Thank you in advance.

First of all, you are asking in the wrong group.
The correct group is below

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof....windowsupdate

Each machine will need to be questioned by WU Home page to see which
critical/security updates are needed for that machine.
Once done I would print out the list, which will give the order of
download/install.
As for the method of download etc, there is no SP3 so you either let the
download happen en bloc or do them one at a time, or download to disk or in
C:\ having created a folder in the root.
There have been quite a few probs with these 60-80 updates.
So read the update group and post there.

Also, Microsoft periodically releases an ISO image file which contains most
recent updates. They say that this is for system/network administrators so I
guess with 15 PCs you qualify. Here is Oct 2006 version:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...ae5d-4908-bb63
-d0054775ee9e&DisplayLang=en

I make a few exceptions to MS priority updates. I would not include Internet
Explorer 7 nor Windows Media Player 11 as "important" "priority" updates,
contrary to what Microsoft thinks.
